A North-east birthday girl got a surprise special present when her boyfriend proposed live on Radio 2.
Sarah Ferguson was getting ready for work on the morning of her 50th birthday, while partner Doug Bolton was downstairs speaking on air on the Vanessa Feltz show.
He had got in touch for a segment of the show where the host wishes someone happy birthday.
But when the time came for Doug to hand over the phone, he had another thing in mind. Doug said: “With all my heart you’re a very, very special girl.
“On your very special birthday, I would just like to ask you in front of everybody, sweetheart would you marry me?”
A shocked Vanessa gasped over the proposal before Sarah replied: “Of course, I will.”
The host of the BBC Radio 2 show then spoke to Sarah and played These Boots Were Made For Walking by Nancy Sinatra, which was number one on the day she was born.
Sarah said: “I’m very happy. We listen to that programme most mornings.
“I could hear our names on the radio at about 6.20am, which was so weird – and that was the first I heard about it.”
The Inverurie couple plan on toasting the unique engagement with family.
Sarah added: “We’ll have a celebration this weekend, and get the family round.
“They were over the moon when we told them.”
