PROSECUTORS have dropped the case against a man accused of posting racist and threatening material on social media about Aberdeen FC defender Shay Logan.
Alexander Thoirs, 26, had been accused of conducting himself in a disorderly manner by posting an image and a comment on a social media site on November 7 last year.
Mr Thoirs, whose address was given in court as 94 Birkhall Parade, Aberdeen, was due to go on trial at Aberdeen Sheriff Court having previously denied the charge at two earlier appearances.
However, the case, which was due to be overseen by Sheriff Kenneth Stewart did not call.
A spokesman for The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said: “It is the duty of the Crown to keep cases under review and after full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, the Procurator Fiscal instructed that no further proceedings should be taken at the time.
“The Crown reserves the right to re-raise proceedings in future.”
