The process of re-railing the derailed train at Stonehaven can now be started, Network Rail bosses have said.
Rail services were terminated at Dundee with buses transporting passengers back up to Aberdeen both yesterday and today.
An investigation was carried out by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch of the Government into the derailment.
No one was injured in the incident, which involved a non-passenger train.
Further to the derailment at #Stonehaven, @raibgovuk investigations have reached a point where we can begin the task of re-railing the train.
Once re-railed & clear of site we will then assess damage to track estimate how quickly we can repair damage & get trains moving again pic.twitter.com/Dth1cYuWsW
