A rescuer who has notched up three decades of saving lives has been praised for his commitment.
Andy Brown has been a volunteer with Peterhead Lifeboat for 30 years and was presented with a long-service award at the team’s weekly training night at Peterhead Lifeboat Station.
He has been a crew member, assistant mechanic, deputy second coxswain, training coordinator and finally took up the position of coxswain in 1998.
Management team chairman Derek Buchan, who presented Andy with his award, said: “For anyone to show such commitment and dedication in volunteering is amazing.”
He added: “This award illustrates the outstanding selflessness and devotion to duty by Andy – and all the other volunteer crews up and down the coast – to the RNLI.”
Andy said lifeboats have become more technically advanced since he started out as a volunteer.
