Motorbike riders are at risk of serious injury unless drivers think safe, police have warned.
Officers said that, due to the current heatwave, more motorcyclists are expected to take to the road this weekend – and they have urged drivers to be aware of them.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We must exercise caution following a number of collisions over the last week where motorcyclists were the main casualties.”
He added: “Although the vast majority of riders do make it home safely, unfortunately some do not.”
Road Policing Inspector Neil Morrison said: “It’s maybe stating the obvious but any motorcyclist involved in a collison will undoubtedly suffer some degree of injury with the severity rising as speeds increase.
“Therefore I would ask all road users to look out for motorcyclists, particularly when emerging from junctions and overtaking.
“Also bear in mind that motorcyclists often travel in groups, so if you see one expect to see more.”
