The search for a missing teenager has been widened after police focused their attention on part of river.
Officers have appealed for information to help find Scot Rodger, 19, who was last seen on the city’s Garthdee Road at noon on Saturday.
A major search was carried out along the River Dee near Duthie Park, with police, fire, ambulance, coastguard and RNLI crews all involved.
However, police today said further inquiries have led officers involved in the search in another direction and they no longer need to search the riverside.
Soon after a missing person’s report came through on Saturday, police closed Riverside Drive while emergency services searched the river.
Lifeboat crews could be seen searching the riverbank while officers were on King George VI bridge.

“The riverbank was the focus of the search at the weekend. However, further inquiries have led police in another direction.
“We are asking any members of the public who may have seen Scot to contact them on 101.”
Scot is described as white, with short mousey brown hair.
He is of a slim build and was wearing a grey Adidas jacket, black bottoms and dark trainers.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were asked by our colleagues at Police Scotland to help assist with reports of a missing man.”
