Police have sealed off a road after a man was found dead.
Emergency services were called to the A944 to Cluny road, at Kirkwood, close to Sauchen, at 2.35pm yesterday after reports of a “sudden death”.
The 65-year-old man was found “out in the open”, however, it is unclear where exactly he was discovered.
It is understood detectives investigating the death sealed off the road for a number of hours while they examined the area.
One witness told the Evening Express officers also put a cordon in place at a nearby house.
A spokesman added: “Police Scotland is currently at the scene in Sauchen, Aberdeenshire, following the sudden death of a 65-year-old male.
“At this time the death is unexplained.
“Police would like to thank those impacted by the temporary road closure for their patience.”

Police Scotland said several of its units were in attendance.
One local, who did not want to be named, said: “There was lots of police tape going across the junction, and taping-off a nearby house.
“I also saw an older guy talking to police.
“Officers were using a police car to block off the junction.”
Inspector Darren Bruce, of the Garioch community police team, added: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends (of the man).
“Police will continue to provide support at this difficult time.”
