THE thefts of a van and car have been linked with a break-in which saw four bikes stolen less than two hours later.
A Ford Transit Connect van and a Mini Cooper were stolen from the Burnwood Avenue area of Newmachar at around 2am yesterday.
The van was then spotted at the scene of a second theft in Peterculter.
Four mountain bikes, worth a total of around £3,000, were stolen after a break-in at Deez Cycles, which offers bikes for hire.
The theft happened at around 3.30am.
Police also believe the van was used in the attempted theft of a motorbike in the West End of Aberdeen around an hour later.
Both the van and the Mini Cooper, which are six months old, were found abandoned in Mastrick yesterday afternoon.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We are treating all three incidents as being linked.”
