Police were left in a flap today in a bid to catch a chicken near Dundee city centre.
Officers made the plucky rescue on East Marketgait after the feathered fiend was causing motorists concern.
One by-stander claimed on social media that three officers attempted to catch the bird at about 8.30am.
The chicken was eventually caught by police. It is not yet clear how the chicken came to be in the centre of Dundee.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Officers were in East Marketgait after reports of a chicken trying to cross the road and giving passing motorists cause for concern.
“The bird was traced safe and well and has been brought to our police station. The SSPCA has been contacted and will be attending to take care of the chicken until the owner is traced.
“Police are appealing for any information as to why the chicken was crossing the road.”
