Police patrols are to be stepped up in an effort to clamp down on drivers abusing a controversial new bus gate in Aberdeen.
The measure was introduced on Bedford Road, near Kittybrewster Retail Park, last week – meaning only buses and cyclists are able to access the road.
It has led to the road being permanently closed to all other traffic between Meston Walk and Hermitage Avenue.
But concerns have been raised after drivers in cars, vans and taxis have all been seen ignoring the measure since it was implemented.
The gate has been introduced as part of traffic management plans relating to the new Third Don Crossing and Berryden Corridor.
Cameras are to be installed to catch those abusing the bus gate but the measure has yet to be introduced.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “High visibility patrols will be ongoing in the area and suitable advice will be given to motorists found to be committing any road traffic offences.”
