Police have today named the woman who died in a north-east crash.
Marietta Ruffing, 65, of Germany, died following the two-vehicle smash which occurred on the A93 Blairgowrie to Braemar Road, approximately five miles south of Braemar at about 12.50pm yesterday.
The collision involved a white Triumph motorcycle and a grey BMW motorcycle.
The 65-year-old woman, who was a passenger on the BMW motorcycle, died from her injuries.
Councillor Geva Blackett, who represents the Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside ward, said: “All accidents have tragic consequences for the family and friends of those who have died.
“My heart goes out to them during this very sad time. I realise the A93 is beloved by motorcyclists, but with the sun in our eyes it can be blinding even for the best drivers and would ask for everyone to be careful.”
Road Policing Sergeant Peter Henderson said: “We are grateful to members of the public who have contacted us to assist with the investigation.
“We continue to appeal to anyone who has not already spoken to police and saw either vehicle in the lead up to this incident, or indeed the collision itself to contact Police Scotland.
“Likewise any motorist who may have dashcam footage which could assist with this enquiry are urged to come forward.
“Police can be contacted on 101 using incident number 2236 of 01/07/2018.”
