A WOMAN who died after being hit by a lorry in Aberdeen city centre was today named by police.
Gwen Thomson, 51, from Torry, was struck at around 8.25am yesterday on Market Street.
Police today renewed their appeal for witnesses to tragedy and praised members of the public who came to Gwen’s aid.
Roads Policing Inspector Jon Barron, the senior investigating officer, said: “Our thoughts are very much with Gwen’s family, friends and work colleagues at this very sad time. I would also like to thank those who rendered first aid and went directly to her assistance until the arrival of the ambulance and police.
“We have spoken to a number of witnesses to the incident already. However, I would urge anyone who hasn’t yet been in contact with us to do so in order to help piece together exactly what happened.”
The 60-year-old driver of the vehicle involved, a DAF Lorry, was uninjured.
