POLICE were today appealing for a van driver who may have witnessed a fatal accident to contact them.
Two female pedestrians were struck by a heavy goods vehicle in Nairn on October 29.
Margaret Ritchie, 80, of Inverurie, died after she was hit by the vehicle.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “It is anticipated the driver may have witnessed the collision or have valuable information that would be of benefit to the Road Policing Unit, which is investigating the collision.
“Police would therefore seek this opportunity to ask the driver of the van to contact them on 101.”
The collision happened near a pedestrian crossing on Academy Street in the town centre at about 3.30pm.
A second female pedestrian aged 82 was also hit by the vehicle and left in a serious, but stable condition.
A red Mercedes Sprinter-type van stopped immediately after the collision.
The van, which was travelling east, stopped within the entrance to the fire station.
The driver left the vehicle and assisted at the scene.
