A thug has been branded “evil” after brutally attacking another man and breaking his jaw in two places.
Greg McAndrew was walking along Clifton Road when he was approached by another man.
The yob then punched the 27-year-old in the jaw and chased him down the street before running off in the direction of Lilybank Place at 3.45am.
Since the assault on Saturday, January 21, Greg has had to undergo two surgeries
Greg’s girlfriend Kirsty Anderson today slammed the culprit.
She said: “The first thing Greg did after being dazed for a couple of seconds was to run away, and this evil man ran after him.
“His jaw was broken in two places.
“The first surgery corrected the break where Greg’s chin is, and the second surgery was to correct the hinge as it wasn’t healing to plan.”
Kirsty said Greg, who is a massive foodie, has lost a lot of weight since the assault.
She said: “He has been unable to eat or drink for a couple of weeks now and will continue to for another month or so. He has lost more than a stone in weight in the first couple of weeks.
“He will need to go through dental procedures to correct his teeth, and the second surgery can result in facial impairment.”
She added: “It has really had a massive impact on his life.”
The attacker is described as being of average height, stocky build and was wearing a dark coloured jumper and jeans.
Pc Caileag Walker said: “This was an unprovoked attack which left a young man with serious injuries.
“Extensive inquiries have been carried out so far, including reviewing CCTV footage and house-to-house inquiries.
“I would also continue to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time – taxi or delivery drivers, or people making their way home from a night out – and may have information to get in touch with police.”
