Plans to build three flats at former North-east coffee shop

Woodhill House, Aberdeenshire Council headquarters.

A planning application to build three flats in a North-east village has been submitted to the local authority.

Blueprints, submitted to Aberdeenshire Council by Eleanor Alexander Architect on behalf of the applicant, J G Ross (Bakers) Ltd, will see three flats built if plans are approved.

The land, on Major Lane in Oldmeldrum, is currently vacant, having formerly been a coffee shop, which has been demolished.

A design statement submitted by the architects said: “This application seeks to retain as much of the previously approved design elements and character as possible by utilising the current design with some minor external alterations to window positions and the roof to the rear.

“In retaining much of the original design, the ground-floor flats can easily be converted to a shop in the future, should the opportunity and interest present itself.”

Aberdeenshire Council hopes to make a decision on the application by March 23.
