A north-east health board could finally be about to fund a children’s cardiac nurse.
Currently, the only nurse of that kind working in the region is funded by Rebecca’s Rainbow Heart Ebstein’s Anomaly Trust.
However, the massive caseload has led to north-east MSP Tom Mason calling for NHS Grampian to pick up the tab.
In response to a question by the MSP in Holyrood, Health Minister Jeane Freeman said the health board was forming plans to take over the funding of the position.
A spokesman for NHS Grampian said: “We have been very fortunate to have a nurse funded by RRH for the last two years. We are considering a business case that looks at the longer term future of this post.”
