Councillors have been urged to approve plans for an extension at a hotel.
The Chester Hotel, pictured, on Queen’s Road has applied for planning permission to partially demolish a single storey function suite and replace it with a larger one.
The hotel previously said demand is rising for a venue to host larger functions.
But the Queen’s Cross and Harlaw Community Council has objected to the application with concerns that the extension would have a “detrimental impact” on the character of the area.
The planners’ report to councillors said: “The size, scale, position and design of the extension would preserve the character of the conservation area and the setting of the listed buildings. On that basis the hotel function room already exists and the maximum number of people would not be increasing.”
Members of the city council’s planning development management committee will vote on the plans on Thursday.
