TWO Aberdeen-based photographers have taken these horrifying images of the flooding in the North-east
Photographers Derek Ironside and Ross Johnston, from Newsline Media, have been out in towns and villages along the River Dee, with Derek describing the situation in Ballater as “hellish.”
Homes in Ballater, Braemar, Aboyne and Marykirk have been evacuated due to flooding, with firefighters and residents being winched to safety by search and rescue helicopters.
A number of roads, including the A93 between Cambus O’ May, Ballater and Braemar is closed, as well as the Banchory to Aboyne stretch.
The Dee bridge, linking the A93, North Deeside Road and the B976, South Deeside Road is also closed, as is the pass of Ballater.
The A937 at Marykirk is also closed, a number of other local roads in the area are affected by standing water and debris and Police Scotland are urging roads users to take extra care when travelling in the are
