A HARBOUR fire that could be seen from miles around was started deliberately, police said today.
Polystyrene blocks at an industrial premises at Peterhead harbour were set on fire at around 5.45pm last night.
The blaze caused a low four-figure sum of damage and the resulting plume of black smoke could be seen as far away as Ellon.
PC Craig Beedie, of the Buchan Community Policing Team, said: “This incident took place during the early evening when the area would have been busy and I urge anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any knowledge to come forward.”
