A community cafe was set to open its second site in Aberdeen today.
Haar Rock Coffee was to open its new cafe at Loirston Avenue, Cove.
Co-owners Gary Johnstone and Grant Davidson opened up their first outlet at Charleston Road North, Cove, last year.
The pair were inspired to start the venture due to a lack of facilities in the area, with residents saying a cafe was much-needed within the community.
And the cafe bosses now want to apply for planning permission to create an outdoor seating area at the Loirston premises.
Gary said: “We want to have an area for dog walkers to sit and I’m also keen to get a better connection between the car park and shopping area.”
The cafe’s co-owner is also hopeful that the new premises will make the area around the Loirston Avenue shops more vibrant.
He said: “There’s one unit left to be let out.
“Hopefully with the new flats getting built at Allan Park that is going to bring in a few more families.
“The area is thriving and growing and I’m encouraged by some of the facilities.”
The cafe has also pledged to put something back into the local community and recently completed a clean-up of an area of fly-tipping around their new premises.
Gary said: “There’s fly-tipping around the shops so we looked at how we could improve it and tidy it up a bit.
“We also held a first birthday party and a 90th one.
“We’ve also been working alongside a few community groups.”
The business organised a family fun walk on Saturday to celebrate the opening of the new cafe and to support the AFC Community Trust Day.
The event saw members of the community walk from the Charleston cafe to the Loirston cafe and take part in some raffles and enjoy snacks before getting a free bus to the Aberdeen v Motherwell game at Pittodrie.
A total of 15 members of staff are employed across the two premises.
