A new initiative to help men and women suffering from drug and alcohol addictions has been hailed a major success.
An outreach event was organised at the weekend to support the work of Teen Challenge North East Scotland; a charity which helps men and women turn their lives around from addiction.
A team, including the charity’s mascot Sunny Bear, was in place at Fraserburgh Tesco on Friday and Saturday, offering shoppers the chance to win a new Triumph motorbike.
Shoppers dug deep to help the cause, by either purchasing tickets or donating money to the work, with £4,000 being given in total over the two days.
Gordon Cruden, area manager at the charity, said: “We were able to chat with many hurting people and speak hope into situations.
“Our services are clearly as vital as ever in the local area.
“Just last week, three of the men we took into our Sunnybrae men’s centre came from Fraserburgh.
“We’re determined to help as many people as possible to find their way out of addiction and into freedom and this fundraiser will assist us in doing this.”
