Oil crew evacuated over fear of Storm Caroline battering the North Sea

Ninian Southern platform.

Almost 70 offshore workers have been evacuated from a North Sea platform due to concerns about safety and its structural integrity as Storm Caroline closes in on the UK.

CNR International Limited said it was taking precautionary measures and evacuating the crew on board the Ninian South due to adverse weather conditions and wave heights that could “impact the safety of those on board”.

As of last night, 90 personnel remained on the platform, which has been undergoing remedial work to its jacket.
