OFFSHORE caterers are to be balloted for industrial action.
Unite today notified employers in the Catering Offshore Trade Association (COTA) that it will ballot its members across for industrial action.
It comes after the union said the Caterers Offshore Trade Association had “refused to enter into meaningful discussion” regarding its members’ earlier decision to backtrack on a 2% pay increase that had been agreed for this year.
COTA employers, including Aramark, Compass and Sodexo, have now been served with a statutory seven-day notice for the ballot start period which will run for six weeks.
Unite industrial officer John Boland said, “The point blank refusal of the COTA employers to honour our pay agreement has left us with no choice but to proceed to a formal industrial action ballot.”
