Council officers could accompany works of art on international loans.
Members of the City Growth and Resources committee have been asked to approve plans that would see officers travelling to Japan, Spain and Sweden.
According to Aberdeen City Council papers the cost for the trips would be met by the borrowing institution.
The city council’s collections are due three loans next year.
They include pieces by John Singer Sargent at the National Museum in Stockholm in October, a pre-Raphaelite collection of work at three institutions in Japan in October 2019 and a piece by Fernand Leger in May 2019.
Christine Rew, the art gallery and museum manager, said: “Lending to partner and international galleries and museums raises the profile of Aberdeen and its collections.
“The presence of loans from the city’s collections contributes to the international promotion of Aberdeen and its attractiveness as a cultural tourism destination.”
