A north-east supermarket will receive a £3.5 million makeover.

Three extensions will be added to the Asda store in Peterhead, with the work expected to be completed by July.

The shop, on Longside Road, will have a new layout and brightened look along with a Scan & Go service.

Customers will also see a new customer service desk and click and collect lockers, where they can collect parcels.

Store manager Edy Young said staff were “really excited” about the new changes.

He added: “We will try to minimise any disruption for customers who are shopping with us while we make these changes and would like to thank them in advance for their patience over the course of the refresh, which we aim to have fully completed by July.”

Following the work, the store’s new opening hours will be 7am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 8am to 10pm on Sunday.
