A north-east woman has received a prestigious bursary from online delivery giant Amazon.
Caitlin McDougall, a former Keith Grammar School pupil, has been handed the Amazon Women in Innovation Bursary, which offers funding to female students from a low-income household attending one of the three universities which neighbour its UK Development Centres, including Edinburgh University.
The 18-year-old Edinburgh University computer science student is one of 24 women in the UK to receive the bursary.
She said: “I have been working from the age of 13 and continued with my part-time job when I started university, but it quickly became difficult to manage alongside my studies.
“Receiving the Amazon Women in Innovation Bursary means I can focus all my efforts on my studies.”
