One person has died following a crash on a north-east road today.
Police said the earlier accident on the B977 near Balmedie is now being treated as a fatal crash.
The road is currently closed while crash investigators examine the scene.
Further details will be released after next of kin have been informed.
Police were called to the scene near the A90, a mile north of Balmedie, at the junction of the B977 at just after 3pm.
They were joined by firefighters and paramedics at the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesman said he could not say how many vehicles were involved.
He said: “Officers are currently in attendance at a serious road traffic collision on the A90, approximately one mile north of Balmedie at the B977.
“We received the call at 3.05pm.
“The road has been closed to allow inquiries to be conducted.
“Local diversions will be in place.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “The call came through at 3.07pm and two appliances – one from Ellon and one from Central Station in Aberdeen – attended. They left at 3.38pm.”
