A NORTH-EAST MSP is among the bookies’ top tips to replace Jim Murphy as Scottish Labour Leader.
Jenny Marra, MSP for the North-east and Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Sport, has odds of 7/1 to take over after the outgoing Mr Murphy resigned the leadership, according to Ladbrokes.
The favourite is current Deputy Leader Kezia Dugdale with odds of 5/4.
Meanwhile, party stalwart Lewis Macdonald, also a North-east MSP, ruled out throwing his hat into the ring.
Mr Macdonald previously stood for deputy leader in 2011 but lost out to Anas Sarwar.
He said: “I’m not a gambling man – my money is staying in my wallet.”
Mr Murphy announced on Saturday he is to resign, despite surviving a vote of no confidence.
