A ceremonial procession of the Speaker into the chamber marked the start of the newly-elected MPs being sworn in today.
West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine MP Stuart Donaldson was first to take the affirmation, which he did in the Scots style – with his hand raised – before taking a seat on the opposition benches.
Aberdeen North MP Kirsty Blackman was next, becoming the most senior city MP for the SNP according to parliament rules, also taking an affirmation in the Scottish manner.
Aberdeen South MP Callum McCaig was the last of the North-east MPs to be sworn in, again taking an affirmation in the Scots style.
