A north-east man has died following a crash on a Dutch motorway.
The fatal collision involved a lorry and a car. A spokesman for Dutch police told the Evening Express: “A 38-year-old man, from Inverurie, died at the scene of the crash.”
The man, who has not yet been named, was a passenger in the car. The driver was unharmed, according to police.
The incident happened near the village of Hoogerheide, in the south-east of the country, on Saturday at around 8.40am.
The local newspaper, De Telegraaf, said the car crashed head-on with the lorry and landed on its side.
Councillor Neil Baillie, who represents Inverurie and District, said: “Condolences go to the family and we are sad to hear about this tragic news.
“Our thoughts go out to his family.”
