A north-east lifeboat has been stood down after a false alarm.
The Peterhead lifeboat was launched at 3.25pm this afternoon after a personal location beacon was detected.
The Bond search and rescue helicopter was also involved in the search.
But an RNLI spokesman confirmed it had been stood down after a false alarm.
A statement released by Peterhead Lifeboat said: “The volunteer crew launched in calm sea conditions and commenced a search for any vessels in distress.
“The crew searched south of the town with assistance from other vessels in the area. The BOND search and rescue helicopter from Aberdeen assisted too but nothing was found.
“Once satisfied that there were no lives in danger, the lifeboat was stood down and returned to the station at shortly after 6pm where she was refuelled and made ready for service.”
