An Aberdeen company is raising money to help children with cancer go swimming.
Children’s entertainment firm Love Rara has launched a fundraising campaign to purchase special drysuits designed to keep medical equipment dry.
A group of colourfully costumed mermaids and mermen joined four-year-old Summer Russell at Bannatyne’s swimming pool in Aberdeen to test out the gear.
Summer’s mum, Elizabeth Russell, wiped away tears of joy as her daughter took to the water for the first time since being diagnosed with a form of leukaemia in 2016.
She said: “Summer absolutely loved it, it was beautiful. It was just magical seeing her little face as she went into the pool again.
“We are so grateful she got this opportunity and would love for the project to expand so that more children can do it.”
Love Rara owner Zara Grant said: “Children with cancer and other serious illnesses just don’t get to do the same things that other kids enjoy. Swimming is a dream for them.”
