A North-east farm worker has been banned from driving after crashing his car while over the limit on the way home from his work’s Christmas drinks.
Andrzej Osuchowski, 54, was fined and banned from the road.
Fiscal depute Kelly Mitchell told Aberdeen Sheriff Court the incident happened at around 5.45pm on December 27.
She said a witness within his home heard a loud bang and went outside to find Osuchowski had crashed into his car. Osuchowski was noted to be “unsteady on his feet”.
Police were called and found him to be over the legal alcohol limit.
He admitted driving while the proportion of alcohol in his breath was 46 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath.
Laura Gracie, Osuchowski’s solicitor, said some of his colleagues had taken beers to work with them as it was so close to Christmas.
She added: “He tells me he had a small number of beers in the afternoon but thought he would still be okay to drive.”
Sheriff Mungo Bovey banned Osuchowski, whose address was given in court papers as King Street, Montrose, from driving for 16 months and fined him £600.
