A North-east family are close to completing a £50,000 fundraising challenge in memory of a loving mother who died four days after being diagnosed with cancer.
Derek Ritchie’s wife Jane died after she became unwell and was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary last January. The 50-year-old, from Fraserburgh, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.
Shortly after her death, Mr Ritchie, who lives and works in Dubai, teamed up with daughters Aleisha, 24, and Jessica, 22, pictured, to launch a charity appeal called Five Challenges for Jane.
The family aims to raise £50,000 for the Stroke Organisation, World Wide Cancer Research and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
They have already conquered a Broch to Rosehearty Cycling and Walking Challenge, Tough Mudder London and the Fraserburgh Half Marathon.
Now Mr Ritchie, 51, is gearing up to run next month’s London Marathon, his first big running event.
