A north-east engineering firm has been awarded new contracts worth more than $50 million.
KCA Deutag is set to undertake drilling operations around the world after being awarded four lucrative new contracts.
The deals will see the firm begin operations in Africa, Asia and Europe.
Three desert rigs have been ordered for the Middle East, and one contract is for a land rig in Iraq.

Contracts have also been awarded to the firm by companies operating in Russia, Germany and Algeria.
The new contracts have a combined value of $54 million.
KCAD’s president of land Simon Drew said: “It is good to see activity picking up in the international drilling industry once again across various markets, and while pricing remains very competitive, we are pleased to see this feeding through to an increase in utilisation across our land drilling fleet.”
