A community group helping those affected by dementia has hosted a vintage garden party in the north-east.
Dementia Friendly Portlethen held the event with Lethen Park Care Home to celebrate the opening of the facility’s new garden.
Members of the group joined residents at the end of June with music from the Mad Hatters, a jazz band from Aberdeen University.
The chairwoman of Dementia Friendly Portlethen Julie Forbes was delighted with the turnout for the event.
She said: “This was the latest in a series of events in Portlethen which help those living with dementia and their carers and families to share experiences and to talk about them.
“We are working to reduce the stigma around dementia.”
Councillor Alison Evison, who has been involved with the group since its inception, said: “Portlethen is on its way to becoming a really dementia-friendly community.
“More local people have come forward to volunteer their time to support social activities which will help those living with dementia.
“There is a fantastic community spirit.”
