A three-hour search was called off earlier after an alert from a beacon was found to be on a driveway in a North-east town.
Two lifeboat crews, from Aberdeen and Stonehaven, were called to a search at 10am today after a personal locater beacon went off.
Three hours after the alert crews stood down after it emerged the beacon was sat on a driveway in Stonehaven.
A spokesman for the Coastguard said: “We received a call at 10am after reports of a personal locater beacon going off.
“We sent two lifeboats, one from Aberdeen and the other from Stonehaven.
“The search lasted around three hours.
“It ended after it was discovered the beacon was in a driveway in Stonehaven. I am unable to give the exact location in the town.”
