A North-east fish and chip shop has been named as one of the top three new chipper businesses in the UK.
Quayside Restaurant and Fish Bar in Gourdon is in the running for Best Newcomer at the 2018 National Fish and Chip Awards.
It will compete against shops in Chester and Cirencester to clinch the title of best new fish and chip shop.
The three shops have been judged on their innovative approaches to running a new fish and chip shop, promotional activities, and sustainable sourcing policies.
Over the coming weeks the finalists will face further in-depth judging visits assessing the business operations both front and back of house.
Andrew Marriott, UK brand and marketing manager for award sponsor Frymax, the all-vegetable frying fat for the fish and chip trade, added: “The standard of this year’s finalists seems to have scaled new heights with three fantastic, high quality entries – whoever wins will be a great ambassador for our industry.”
The ceremony will take place in London on January 25.
