North-east care facility residents tell inspectors centre is a ‘home from home’

Ythanvale home in Ellon

Residents of a North-east care home have told inspectors “it’s a home from home”.

Monitors from the Care Inspectorate watchdog visited Ythanvale Home in Park Road, Ellon, on February 6 and have now published their inspection report.

“People we spoke with expressed good levels of satisfaction with life at Ythanvale. They told us ‘it’s home from home’,” said the report.

It added: “We observed staff take time with people, offering encouragement and guidance.

“People were not rushed. This contributed to the high levels of satisfaction with the staff. People expressed high levels of satisfaction with meals.”

One of the 28 residents told inspectors: “Everything and everyone in the care home is first class.”

Another told them: “The staff do a wonderful job in a professional manner.”

Inspectors awarded the home a “good” rating for staffing – the third best of six possible ratings – and “adequate” for care, support and environment.
