A new athletics event got off on the right foot as organisers unveiled the route of the Great Aberdeen Run.
The launch of the race was announced with those behind the project hoping it will bring tens of thousands of visitors to the Granite City each year.
Starting off and finishing on Union Street, the route will pass some of the city’s most famous landmarks.
As part of the Great Run Company series, the aim is to replicate the success of their ever-increasing number of city centre events in the UK and Ireland.
Aberdeen City Council leader Jenny Laing said: “The Great Aberdeen Run has the potential to attract visitors from throughout Britain, Europe and the world – providing a significant economic boost to the area and reinforcing our ambitions as a tourist destination.
“For the people of Aberdeen there are many more advantages, not least the opportunity to take part in a major event on new and unique courses which will take in some of our most iconic landmarks.”
The Great Aberdeen Run will take in the beach promenade, the harbour, Pittodrie , the University of Aberdeen and the historic Brig o’ Balgownie.
