A popular night time running event is set to return next month.
The Illuminator Run will be held on October 28 from 6pm until around 1am in Glen Tanar’s ancient Scots pine forest.
The night time half marathon will see participants run or walk 15 dark miles over rugged hill trails with just the glow of their head torch to lead the way.
Those who sign up can walk the route, race hard or just jog round.
The average finishing time is two-and-a-half hours for runners and six hours for walkers.
Participants’ race/walk time is recorded by electronic chip timing and the course is clearly way-marked, with a hot drinks station with light effects at the halfway point.
At the finish, hot coffee and tea awaits tired runners after they’ve made their way through the dark Scottish winter forest.
Braemar Mountain Rescue Association is the nominated charity partner for the event.
The rescue team will also be at the event to provide additional safety support to all participants in partnership with professional staff and first aid teams.
