This is how one of the North-east’s busiest park and ride sites could look after a proposed expansion.
Aberdeenshire Council has lodged plans to improve Ellon Park and Ride, including an increase of 99 parking spaces.
The expansion plans were agreed four years ago but the work has been delayed due to issues obtaining the land required.
But this has now been resolved and the local authority has unveiled the layout of the proposed scheme.
Under the plans, the turning circle would be moved back, placing it closer to the A90 Aberdeen to Fraserburgh road, while three separate bus stands would be created.
Ellon councillor Isobel Davidson today spoke of her delight at the progress.
She said: “This has taken a long time to come as the council had to purchase the land through compulsory purchasing.
“This has now been resolved so we can move forward.
“Ellon Park and Ride is extremely busy and people will look forward to this.
“I welcome that it’s happening.
“The take up of Ellon Park and Ride is superb.”
