An engineering manager has launched a smartphone app which guides people through the 200 years of Aberdeen’s architecture and history.
Bryan Atchison of Robert Gordon University (RGU) has developed innovative self-guided tours of the city to highlight places of historical, architectural and local interest. They are called Aberdeen Walking Tours.
Once the app is downloaded, people can select and buy a tour and explore the city at their own pace.
The app works offline and uses the phone’s GPS to sync where the person is and what audio should play.
Bryan said: “The north-east is enjoying a growth in tourism.
“Thousands of people come to visit Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire attractions.
“A huge number of international students and their families come every year and they can now take advantage of the opportunity to explore Aberdeen, as well as RGU.”
