A new 50mph speed limit has now been introduced on the A90.
The limit has been extended to cover a wider area between the Murcar roundabout and the dual carriageway at Tipperty while work is carried out on the Aberdeen bypass and Balmedie to Tipperty dualling scheme.
Transport Scotland had initially announced the new restriction would be in place as of August 1 but its introduction was delayed.
It follows the introduction of average speed cameras which are currently in operation on the A90 between Blackdog and Balmedie to ensure safety for construction workers and road users while the major construction project is under way.
Traffic lights have also been installed.
A Transport Scotland spokesman said: “Sections of the A90 between the Murcar and Ellon roundabouts are already subject to a 50mph speed restriction but this is now being extended.
“The change to the speed limit is necessary to ensure workers can construct the new road safely while road users continue to use the A90.”
