NHS Grampian is coming under increasing pressure to offer eye clinic appointments in Moray.
Patients are currently facing lengthy journeys to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to be seen by consultants.
Next week MSPs Richard Lochhead and Douglas Ross will team up to press health bosses on when staff shortages at Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin are likely to be resolved.
Mr Lochhead said: “I’m aware that the lack of a consultant in Elgin has caused real problems for some elderly patients.”
An NHS Grampian spokeswoman said: “An invitation went to Moray and Highland and Islands MPs and MSPs to discuss any issues at an informal closed meeting next week.”
