Aberdeen residents are being urged to check whether they are eligible for a reduction in their council tax rates.
Aberdeen Central MSP Kevin Stewart, is encouraging residents living in a band E, F, G or H property but with an income of £25,000 or less to look into the Council Tax Reduction Scheme.
In November last year MSPs at Holyrood voted 92 to 35 to raise the rate for properties across Scotland in the top four band rates.
Mr Stewart said: “It is important for folk to know that although these council tax increases are coming into effect next month, there are 54,000 homes across Scotland in bands E to H that will not have to pay the increase.
“It is fair that we ask those who can afford to pay to give a bit more, but no one who is unable to pay this increase will be expected to do so.”
