MORE than 80 people turned out for a football competition held in memory of a North-east dad.
Chris Niven, of Cove in Aberdeen, died of ALK mutation lung cancer last August and was remembered through a charity football tournament.
The event, which was held yesterday, took place at Catto Park in Cove.
Today, his widow Julie thanked Chris’ friends for organising the event.
She said: “It was great to see so many people turn out and play for Chris.”
In the lead up to the event, friends and family of Chris helped to raise £8,000 for the Willow Foundation through raffles and donations.
The charity aims to give psychological and emotional support to seriously ill 16-to-40-year-olds through special day experiences.
