THE Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for snow and ice in the North-east.
A yellow warning, meaning be aware, has been put out for Aberdeenshire and Moray from 6pm tonight until noon tomorrow.
The forecaster says the areas who will see the worst of it will be at a higher altitude.
The chief forecaster’s report said: “A cold, showery airstream will bring wintry showers across the region.
“Whilst most showers at low levels will be of rain, they will turn to snow locally in heavier bursts.”
The showers are expected to ease during the night, but will leave a risk of icy patches lasting into New Year’s Day.
