Delicious food and friendly customer service are what makes McGinty’s so popular.
James McEwen, bar manager at McGinty’s, which won the Pub/Bar of the Year 2017, said: “Winning the retailer award has definitely had a positive impact on our business.
“As it is pride of place on the bar gantry, many customers ask us about the award and congratulate us, which makes us all very proud.
“It was a big morale boost to all the staff and it let them know that all their hard work over the year did not go unnoticed.
“Our customers were also so supportive and happy for us and it was a talking point among us all.”
James would recommend entering the Evening Express Retailer Awards this year.
He said: “There is no disadvantage to taking part and regardless of whether you win it is always great to see the support you get from your customers and staff.
“The awards ceremony is also a great night out.”
James and his dedicated team always go the extra mile for their valued customers.
He said: “Excellent customer service is about being attentive, pleasant and being able to gain a good relationship with them individually. Working in the busy hospitality industry, there are always new challenges to overcome, but we feel it is how you deal with them that is important.
“We pride ourselves on being able to solve any problems effectively so no matter what, our customers leave feeling happy.”
McGinty’s continues to update its food as well as drink menus to keep it “fresh and seasonal”.
James thinks the best meal the restaurant offers right now is its homemade beef steak pie, which is served with chips or potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
He said: “It is a favourite with our regulars and always a big hit with everyone new that tries it.”
