Police have appealed for witnesses after a 22-year-old man was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash on a North-east road.

Emergency services were called to the incident on the A98 Banff to Fraserburgh road near Crudie at around 7.25am.

The man, the driver and sole occupant of a red-coloured Fiat Punto, was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after fire crews cut him from the vehicle.

People who saw the collision or the car being driven beforehand are asked to contact Police on 101.

The road was closed until around 2pm.
